Considering that Limeira is the largest Brazilian producing hub of plated jewels, and displays more than half of the national production in the sector, I have responded to the invitation of entrepreneur Wilson Antiqueira Dantas, owner of “Realen Folheados Indústria Comércio e Exportação Ltda.”, regarding the endeavour of research, aiming at publishing a book alluding to the history of the plated jewelry industry. Wilson has undertaken, in the company of his partner José Araújo de Oliveira, a very high-level management at the head of Realen. I was impressed with the performance of the company, and with the preliminary information regarding the sector, a fact that has encouraged me to dive into research, aiming at publishing the work “Limeira – The National Capital of Plated Jewelry”. Part of the text consists of records of testimonies collected from interviews with the main protagonists of a story, which began in the 1930s, and of articles published in the press. Whenever possible, I undertook research on original documents of the period in order to confirm the information collected from these sources, to present the readers with a work that records the facts that have possibly occurred from the 1930s to the present day.
